Axiom Rail Services provides car mover training for dual-modal equipment used in industrial, transload, and short line environments, including Shuttle Wagon, Trackmobile, Rail King, and similar railcar movers. Training is built around the specific equipment, track layout, and operating conditions present at the customer’s facility, rather than generic instruction. Instruction is conducted on the customer’s actual car movers and focuses on how the equipment is used during normal operations. Employees are trained on daily assigned tasks, site-specific hazards, and operational constraints that affect safe and efficient movement of railcars within the facility. This ensures training directly translates to real-world performance. 
 

Operational and Mechanical Awareness

Car mover training includes both operational and mechanical awareness. Employees are instructed on pre-use and periodic inspection practices, recognition of unsafe conditions, and proper documentation where applicable. Training also covers correct procedures for placing equipment on and removing it from the rail, including alignment, guidance systems, and safe transition between rubber-tire and rail modes. 
 

Axiom provides instruction on weight transfer and load distribution as they relate to safe car mover operation. Employees are trained to understand traction limitations, braking performance, rail conditions, grades, curves, and how load characteristics impact control and stopping distance. These elements are critical to preventing runaways, equipment damage, and injuries in confined industrial environments. 
 

Integrated, FRA-Compliant Training

Training addresses coupling and uncoupling practices, securement, movement planning, radio communications where used, and employee positioning during movements. Instruction emphasizes situational awareness and coordination with other facility activities to reduce the risk of incidents in active production areas. Where applicable, car mover training is structured to support formal On-the-Job Training and documentation requirements. Training activities can be integrated into normal switching and spotting operations, so production is not unnecessarily interrupted. Employees demonstrate competency while performing actual work under controlled oversight. 
 

Car mover training provided by Axiom is delivered within an FRA-compliant training framework where Part 243 applies and is not generic equipment training.
