Track Inspections
Independent and Objective Track Inspections
Axiom Rail Services provides FRA-compliant track inspection services designed to deliver accurate, objective assessments of track condition without conflicts of interest. Our inspection services are intentionally separated from any repair or construction work so that findings are based solely on regulatory requirements, observed conditions, and operational risk.
Unlike many providers in the industry, Axiom does not perform rail or track repairs and does not correct its own defects. This separation is deliberate. In the rail industry, it is common for inspection services to be discounted or offered at little to no cost, only for significant repair work to be identified later and performed by the same company that conducted the inspection. This approach creates an inherent conflict of interest and can lead to overstated findings, unnecessary repairs, or inflated repair costs.
Axiom’s inspection process is independent and objective. Track conditions are evaluated against applicable FRA requirements, operational context, and documented observations. Findings are recorded accurately and consistently, without financial incentive tied to future repair work. Customers receive inspection reports that reflect the true condition of their track rather than a sales-driven outcome.
Forecasting and Customer-Controlled Repairs
In addition to identifying defects, Axiom provides forecasting that helps customers plan repairs in a practical and cost-effective manner.
Rather than forcing immediate, bundled repair solutions, our reports allow customers to understand current conditions, anticipate future needs, and prioritize work based on risk and regulatory timelines. This approach supports better budgeting and long-term infrastructure planning.
Because Axiom does not perform repairs, customers retain full control over how and when corrective actions are completed. Inspection findings can be used to solicit quotes from local contractors, rail service providers, or internal maintenance teams. This allows customers to shop localized repair rates, select providers they trust, and manage costs without pressure from an inspecting entity that stands to benefit financially from the work.
Compliance Support and Inspector Training
All track inspections are conducted in accordance with FRA requirements and are designed to support compliance with inspection frequency, documentation, and recordkeeping expectations. Customers are left with compliant inspection records, clear findings, and defensible documentation suitable for regulatory review.
In addition to providing inspection services, Axiom offers a track inspector training course for organizations that wish to develop in-house inspection capability. This training is designed to prepare designated personnel to perform inspections competently and consistently while understanding regulatory requirements and documentation expectations. Customers can choose to rely on Axiom inspections, build internal inspection capacity, or use a combination of both.
Axiom’s track inspection services are built around independence, accuracy, and transparency. By separating inspection from repair, we provide customers with reliable information, true forecasting, and the flexibility to manage their infrastructure responsibly while remaining fully FRA compliant.
